BRIDGE
DECK CLUB OF NAPLES
Midsummer 2010 Editor
– Liz Saxon
MESSAGE
FROM THE PRESIDENT!
Thank you, thank you,
thank you everyone for making this year’s sectional such a great success! We had 20
tables more than last year! Bob
Parlin’s terrific management in carrying it out netted 20% more income AFTER paying rent to Golden Gate, quality
hospitality, directors, caddies, ACBL fees and prizes! Jackie and Naples Bridge
Center were our gracious offsite hosts. Our hospitality was marvelous with wonderful
snacks, desserts, breakfast muffins and bagels and a fried chicken lunch on
Sunday – all of us probably gained weight and will need to exercise even more
mental power at the bridge table to burn calories. Thanks to all of you who brought food, helped out in the kitchen,
cleaned up afterwards and played!!! The
top three total point winners when it was all over were Jim Saxon, Ellie
Goodrich and Liz Saxon who played in every event. We have several players on
the cusp of becoming a life master – if someone passed a significant milestone
and I missed it, please let me know.
Our 20 new card tables
arrived and are in use as of June 23rd. Thanks again to all of you who contributed money (we’re still
picking out new table caddies, etc.) and special thanks to Jim Saxon who spent
a lot of time evaluating various types of card tables for our use. Thanks Ellie and Wayne for picking them up
at the UPS store and bringing them over. The ACBL purchased all 20 of our old
tables for use in tournaments.
Our new lease is
concluded with the Church for another year.
They offered us an an ad for our bridge games in their church bulletin
to encourage attendance. We are seeing
nice attendance at our Monday, Wednesday, Friday games – other days will resume
in the fall and are confident about the future of our club. We know you have a choice of places to play
bridge in the Naples area and are always gratified when you choose us.
