EDUCATION WRAP-UP

The teaching program earns money for the club through the lesson cost and the sale of books Marcia Reff taught 17- intermediate-level bridge classes, covering basic bidding and play, including Jacoby transfers, Jacoby 2NT, limit raises, cue bid raises, weak two’s, Roman Keycard, unusual NT, negative doubles, balancing doubles, balancing overcalls and no-trumps and reverses. Marcia started the season with four tables, rose to 11 tables during the height of the season and then declined to four tables in April.  Joanna Sarkisian, a Connecticut bridge teacher, made her teaching debut in Naples at the Bridge Deck Club, teaching beginning bridge.  She had a core group of 4-6 tables through a 13 week teaching schedule, almost all of whom want to continue when she returns to Naples next season. Keith Kersch taught Friday morning classes with mini-lessons and supervised play.  Keith also had his core group of 5-8 tables that graduated into several sanctioned games before the program ended in April. Congratulations and many thanks to all of our teachers for their dedication and success.

Marcia plans to start an 8 week course next fall, and Keith’s supervised play game will begin in October.  Joanna’s classes will resume in January.  If you would like to teach a class this fall or perhaps a one or two day seminar on a special subject, please talk to Marcia!
